United States Postal Service Mail Forwarding Updates and Other Related Services

Whether you're a frequent traveller or going on a quick trip, here are some mail delivery options from the United States Postal Service that you can take advantage of.

1. Change of Address

While USPS no longer accepts Change of Address requests via 1-800-ASK-USPS, it's convenient to do it online.

You can specify where your mail will now be sent and your mail is sent piece by piece to the new address. A $1.05 one-time identity verification fee will be charged.

If you prefer not to submit your request online, visit a local a US Post Office and they can assist your Change of Address request there.

2. USPS "General Delivery"

This is a great choice if you are moving and don't have a permanent address yet. Mail addressed to you at General Delivery will be held at your area's main Post Office for up to 30 days for you to pick up.

People can send you mail by using "General Delivery" as the address, noting the town name and ZIP Code:

ANYTOWN NY 12345-9999

3. USPS "Premium Forwarding Service Residential"

For a weekly fee, USPS will hold your mail, package it and send it to you each week via Priority Mail.

You may either sign up for this service online or in person at your local United States Post Office. Be sure to bring 2 forms of ID and evidence of residence at your primary address.
